Such was the success of last year’s race in the Southern California city that tickets are quickly being snatched up. Already one of the viewing areas on North Embarcadero is sold out on Race Day. With a total of 20,000 spectator tickets available, those who don’t want to miss the action are being urged to buy their tickets soon, before the race is completely sold out. The Red Bull Air Race World Series 2008 got off to a fantastic start in Abu Dhabi this month with Paul Bonhomme’s resounding victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd of 400,000 spectators. Bonhomme dominated the season opener in the United Arab Emirates with the fastest times in all flying sessions. He won last year’s race in San Diego and will be looking to repeat his performance there, but he is up against defending World Champion American Mike Mangold who is confident about racing in front of a home crowd. The Californian is hoping to improve on his third place result in Abu Dhabi after coming in behind 2007 rookie pilot Hannes Arch from Austria who took second place.
